As part of our drive for sustainability, we work hard to continuously increase the amount of cullet in our glass production process. Currently we use up to 90% of cullet during the melting process.
A cullet incorporation strategy is in place to manage the cullet usage. Internal cullet targets, supplier qualification and investment are all now in place as part of our cullet value chain.
By increasing our use of cullet, we thereby decrease our cost of energy and are able to save approximately 3% of energy per tonne of glass produced and 5% CO2 emission reduction per tonne of glass produced. Our team in North America has committed to a 10% increase in its use of cullet content by 2025.
Increasing the amount of cullet we use in our glass production process connects to our sustainability pillar concerning the environment.
