Glass recycling company Recresco has secured a five-year contract to supply Knauf Insulation with high quality glass cullet.
Under the deal, glass from commercial and residential collections from Torfaen Council in Wales, UK and the wider community, and reprocessed at the Recresco site will serve Knauf Insulation for the manufacture of Mineral Wool insulation.
Being located less than five miles apart, the contract supports both businesses’ sustainability goals to reduce environmental impact and support the local economy.
Knauf Insulation is a UK’s provider of sustainable glass and rock mineral wool insulation solutions.
It employs more than 500 people at its manufacturing plants in Cwmbran, Queensferry and St Helens, UK to create mineral wool insulation for use in a variety of applications.
The company recently invested £7M to develop and upgrade its South Wales, UK plant.
Recresco Director, Tim Gent said of the contract: “We are delighted to continue our strong relationship with Knauf Insulation, securing employment and driving recycling rates in the Torfaen region.
“By working with local businesses, we help to reduce the carbon footprint of our operations while continuing to have a positive environmental impact through innovative glass processing practices."
