Hanglas, Gunsan Plant No. 1 Melting Furnace Burning Ceremony

Application of global top-tier eco-friendly design technology

Hanglas held a fire-fighting ceremony at the Gunsan plant after completing the cold repair work of production line No. 1. Production Line No. 1 was first put into operation in June 1981, and after 4 months of cold repair work since October of last year, it will resume operation in January of this year.

For this cold repair, global top-tier eco-friendly design technology was applied. It plans to increase production of high-quality glass, strengthen manufacturing competitiveness through energy saving, and reduce CO2 emissions by more than 20% and reduce nitrogen oxide and sulfur oxide emissions by more than 70% by applying the latest melting facilities and pollution prevention facilities.

Hanglas is taking the lead in implementing eco-friendly ESG management. In order to realize the carbon-neutral goal of 2050, we introduced eco-friendly natural gas combustion system to all furnaces as well as design and overhaul of the furnace. In addition, for resource recycling and removal of hazardous chemicals, industrial waste was minimized and resource efficiency was maximized by increasing the recycling rate of cullet.

Hanglas added, "Based on excellent thermal insulation performance, we are continuously developing high-performance glass to prepare for aggravating abnormal weather, and we plan to make efforts to commercialize it in Korea."
