Ardagh to close two US glass facilities

Ardagh is to close two glass production facilities in the USA - putting nearly 650 jobs at risk.

It confirmed its Ruston (Simsboro), La., and Wilson, N.C. plants will close by the middle of next month.

Ardagh said it was closing the two plants because of decreased market demand.

The Wilson facility employs 400 people, the Simsboro site 245 people.

Ardagh said: "In response to recent weakness in market demand, we have today announced certain adjustments to our manufacturing footprint involving the closure of our Ruston (Simsboro), La., and Wilson, N.C. glass production facilities, effective mid-July 2023.

"Existing customers of these facilities will continue to be supplied from alternative locations in our network."
