Ardagh postpones Brazilian glass packaging facility

Ardagh has postponed construction of a proposed glass project in Brazil indefinitely.

The glass giant was in the process of building a container glass manufacturing facility in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais state.

The facility was due to come on stream in the first half of this year and provide 300 jobs.

But the world’s second largest container glass producer said a deterioration in Brazilian glass market conditions meant they had to pause the project.

It said: "Ardagh Glass Packaging (AGP) confirms that it recently paused the construction of a new glass manufacturing facility at Juiz de Fora in Brazil."
