PaneraTech has released a report on how digitalisation can increase engineer retention in the glass industry.
For the report, PaneraTech interviewed executives around the world.
It found that the biggest barrier to customers achieving their goals was the changing workforce.
The consensus was that it was hard to attract and retain engineering talent because glass manufacturing is a “dirty, low-profile industry”.
However, through its research, PaneraTech found that this was not the case.
It discovered that many engineers who are hired to optimise furnace operations are instead responding to constant emergencies.
This focus on ‘firefighting’ leads to many engineers feeling discouraged and wanting to seek new opportunities.
PaneraTech believes digitalisation, combined with expert guidance from humans, can help to break this cycle.
