Vidrala´s glass sales boosted by Brazilian and UK growth

, Vidrala

Glass sales in Brazil and the UK helped boost Vidrala's financials for the first nine months of 2024.

Overall revenue was driven by a 9% growth in volume it said.

The Spanish-headquartered glassmaker said it was benefitting from a 2023 capacity expansion at the former Vidroporto site in Brazil.

Its Brazilian growth was up by 60%, driven by sales of beer bottles.

In the UK, it said its commercial proposition had helped it gain sales.

It warned that sales in the Continental Europe market - which accounts for half its business - were flat.

In its latest financial note, it said overall sales were up 1.9% for the first nine months of the year compared to the same period in 2023.

Sales were recorded at €1.216 billion from €1.194 billion the year before.

Its Ebita also increased by 7% compared to the same period last year.

Speaking to analysts, CEO Raul Gomez, said: "Brazil is a platform for growth for us. We are running at full capacity and we are successfully capturing new sales."

In the UK its integration of its filling business in Bristol, UK plus volume growth had boosted sales, despite a weak organic environment.

"In the UK, our unique particular commercial approach is helping us to capture some sales volumes.

"We are running there again at close to full capacity, and that's the reason of our confidence in our margins in the UK."
